We all know Aple iPhone is number one but who knew the lowly Samsung P2 is going to make it to TIME’s top ten list, actually it was number 6. Time’s short description says it better than I can:

The slim and sexy P2 sounds terrific and plays a variety of music file: MP3, WMA and songs from subscription services like Rhapsody and Yahoo Music. The pretty 3-in. screen has touch controls for viewing photos and watching videos, which are displayed at a DVD-quality rate of 30 frames per second. It also works with BlueTooth headsets and speakers, and soon you will be able to receive forwarded calls from a BlueTooth cell phone. (You’ll have to download what’s called a firmware upgrade from the Samsung website, but don’t worry, it’s not as difficult as it sounds.)

As 2007 draws to a close, we take this opportunity to look back at the cell phones that were born this year. As usual, the flood of new models only increased over the previous year's, but that didn't stop a few handsets from standing out above the rest. This forum limits us to just a few phones, so keep in mind there were more devices that we liked. But of all the phones of 2007, here are top picks of the year. As any gadget watcher can tell you, the Apple iPhone was probably the most anticipated and closely watched handset of the year. Though it didn't quite live up to its stratospheric hype (how could it?), it does enough things very well to claim a spot on our top list. The iPhone is available only with AT&T, and we're counting on seeing a 3G version in 2008. Helio may be struggling as a carrier but its Ocean was one cool cell phone. It offers a raft of features in a sleek and user-friendly design. And speaking of features, the LG Voyager VX10000 for Verizon Wireless has just about everything you'd want in a cell phone. You also get excellent performance in an innovative, accessible design. Seeing how AT&T's Motorola Razr2 V9 breathed new life into the aging Razr family, it certainly qualifies as the most improved phone of the year. The Samsung UpStage SPH-M620 also offers a unique design (perhaps too unique) but it successfully blended a music player and a cell phone. And if you're someone who just wants to make calls, we even chose a favorite for you. T-Mobile's Motorola V195s does exactly what a cell phone is supposed to do. And it does it well.

I’ve never heard of Venturer but shopping channel QVC swears by them so that means they must be OK then. Right?

Anyway, the company is already selling its SHD7001 standalone HD-DVD player in the US for around $100 and next month it will go on sale over here for a so far ‘undisclosed’ but, apparently ‘amazing’ price. Think £150-£200 then.

It’s a 720p/1080i-capable machine with HDMI that will also upscale your existing DVDs to a higher resolution. It boasts support for a range of surround sound formats including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD. There’s also an Ethernet port for hooking up to the Internet to access Web-related content that appears as Extras on some HD DVD movies. It will also be supplied with a “fantastic add on package worth around £50.00” of a HDMI cable [which should be bundled free] and two HD DVD movies, the suck-tastic Troy and Hulk.

Personally, I’d fork out £200 for a Toshiba HD-EP30 player here, which comes with 7 free HD DVD movies, including 300 and The Bourne Supremacy

New tests have revealed that Windows XP, running the beta Service Pack 3, is twice as fast as the new Vista operating system, running Service Pack 1 beta. In other words, the tweaked Vista is more than twice as slow as the operating system (OS) its going to replace. Hell, even without the service pack its still more than twice as slow.

Devil Mountain Software ran typical Officebench tests on both operating systems running on identical systems, namely Dell XPS M1710 test bed with 2GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 1GB of RAM and discrete nVidia GeForce Go 7900GS video. By the way, the lower the seconds on the chart above, the faster it is.

This is just another in a long line of set-backs to Vista, Microsoft’s bloated successor to XP which many users don’t want but are being forced to use. Back in September, customer revolts forced Microsoft to hold off axing XP sales at the end of January 2008, until June.

The testers had this to say about Vista’s new patch:

“With the initial performance characteristics of Windows Vista leaving much to be desired, many IT organizations have put off deploying the new OS until the first service pack (SP1) is released by Microsoft early next year. The thinking goes that SP1 will address all of these early performance issues and somehow bring Windows Vista on par with - or at least closer to - Windows XP in terms of runtime performance.

Unfortunately, this is simply not the case. Extensive testing by the exo.performance.network (www.xpnet.com) research staff shows that SP1 provides no measurable relief to users saddled with sub-par performance under Vista."

Only the two first models have the integrated camera.

All those notebook are equipped with 7 inch display, sound HDA, stereo-dynamics loudspeaker, wi-Fi module, processor and chipset intel. Notebook work under linux, but compatible with Windows XP.

The weight of such mobile PC is 920 grams.

There is no information about the prices on ASUS sites; however, to its partners , Asus company sent out information, that the price range will compose 299 dollars for low-end model up to 399 dollars - for high-end one।

it's worth spending US $399 for ultra low weight notebook. the biggest drawback is it hard disk. probably hard disk capacity could have increased to 20-40 GB which can bea best bet for it's greater. I hope when i write this review the product entered in US markets in selected stores and that to only white model with 4GB flash drive. Hope this will be eventually be upgraded to higher RAM as well as higher Hard disk capacity, till then keep fingers crossed

N-95 is it a success or failure?

After seeing it for several months in the market, it clear that the most advanced mobile from Nokia company is not too good to buy.

The Good:

The Nokia N95 cell phone boasts a 5-megapixel camera that produces good-quality photos and videos. It comes with advanced multimedia capabilities and has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Symbian smart phone also features integrated GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and an innovative two-way slider design.

The bad:

The N95 lacks support for U.S. 3G networks; standby battery life is poor; and performance is somewhat sluggish. The hardware feels a bit cheap, and the sliding mechanism could be more secure. It's also very expensive.

The bottom line:

With a 5-megapixel camera, advanced multimedia capabilities, and GPS, there's no doubt that the Nokia N95 is one of the most feature-packed smart phones to date, but poor battery life and sluggish performance make it hard to justify the high price tag.
